"Bad Moms"




















In 2016, the world was given the gift that is "Bad Moms." Starring Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell
and Kathryn Hahn, the female-led comedy is all about imperfect mothers
who aren't afraid to admit they have no idea what they're doing.

"The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants"
It didn't
matter how old you were when "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants"
arrived in theaters in 2005 because this coming-of-age drama had us all
caught in our feelings. Starring Amber Tamblyn, Blake Lively, America
Ferrera and Alexis Bledel, the movie (and its later sequel) was a little
bit about a pair of magical jeans and a lot about an unbreakable bond
between friends.





"Bridesmaids"




















"Bridesmaids" was one of the few films in history that made us laugh so
hard we grew abs in the theater. Starring Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy
and more, this 2011 female-led comedy tackled marriage, friendships and
the horror of sudden-onset food poisoning while trying on expensive
bridesmaid dresses.

"Sex and the City"














Based on the HBO original series of the same name, "Sex and the City"
the movie brought our favorite friends from New York City to the big
screen. Starring Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, Sarah Jessica Parker
and Kim Cattrall as Miranda, Charlotte, Carrie and Samantha, the movie
affirmed our faith in female friendships, the healing power of laughter
and the beauty of a great pair of heels.

"Mean Girls"














While stories about female friendship are powerful, we have to admit,
stories about high school cliques and getting revenge on bullies are
sometimes even more satisfying. In the 2004 comedy "Mean Girls" starring
Lacey Chabert, Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams and Amanda Seyfried,
one brave girl finds a way to make the meanest girls in her school pay
for their bad behavior while learning a few important life lessons along
the way.

"Girls Trip"














When four best friends head to the Big Easy for a very necessary
getaway, there's bound to be a lot of laughter. Thankfully, Tiffany

male cast members, the heroes of the movie were all women and we're so
here for it. Starring Storm Reid, Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling
and more, the film, based on the book by Madeline L'Engle, took
audiences on an adventure through the multiverse so one young girl, with
the help of her little brother and school crush (and three magical
beings), could save her father from the darkness.

"Charlie's Angels"














Based on the TV series of the same name, "Charlie's Angels" was a
full-throttle ride that proved women could be beautiful while kicking
a-- and taking names. Starring Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu and Cameron Diaz,
these ladies weren't just pretty faces but trained detectives with
slick ninja moves who could take down the baddest criminals in the
business.

"Life of the Party"














One of the newest female-led films on our list is the 2018 comedy "Life of the Party" starring Melissa McCarthy
and Molly Gordon. The movie's about a middle-aged mom (played by
Melissa) whose husband divorces her after 23 years of marriage. Instead
of having a pity party, she enrolls herself in the same university her
daughter attends and devotes herself to having the full collegiate
experience while finally finishing her degree.

"Pitch Perfect"














There have been many musicals and many female-led films, but none
combined the two as brilliantly as "Pitch Perfect." Starring Alexis
Knapp, Rebel Wilson, Anna Camp, Anna Kendrick,
Brittany Snow and more, the hilarious comedy about an all-girl singing
group determined to defeat their male counterparts had us dancing in the
aisles and singing "When I'm Gone" at karaoke bars for longer than
we're comfortable admitting.

"Little Women"














With no less than six different remakes, the 1994 version of "Little Women" (based on the book by Louisa May Alcott) is definitely our favorite. Starring Susan Sarandon, Kirsten Dunst, Trini Alvarado, Winona Ryder and Claire Danes, this beautiful tale of the March sisters' coming of age after the Civil War captured our hearts and never let go.

"Steel Magnolias"














Can there be a list of movies starring mostly women without "Steel
Magnolias"? No, we didn't think so either. Starring Shirley MacLaine,
Olympia Dukakis, Sally Field, Julia Roberts,
Daryl Hannah and Dolly Parton, this 1989 classic is, on the surface,
about Southern women who spend their days gossiping at a beauty salon,
but underneath, it's really a tale of friendship, love and the power
that comes from women supporting each other.

"Real Women Have Curves"














One of the few mainstream stories focused on the Latina experience also
happens to be one of our favorite female-led films ever. "Real Women
Have Curves" stars America Ferrera,
Lupe Ontiveros and more in a touching film about a young woman's
struggle to balance her family obligations, tradition and her deep
yearning to break free and discover what her life could be, on her
terms.

"The Help"














Although the book "The Help" created quite a controversy and even led to
a lawsuit, the 2011 film was arguably one of the best of that year and
still remains one of our most beloved female-led movies of all time. It
stars Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Emma Stone and Bryce Dallas Howard
in a story about African-American maids during the 1960s who worked for
white families amidst the backdrop of the Civil Rights movement. The
film offers us all a chance to reflect on the past and honor the
unsurpassed courage of black Americans, especially black women,
throughout some of the most painful moments in our country's history.

"The Secret Life of Bees"














Grab a tissue when you watch this heartfelt drama because "The Secret Life of Bees" is guaranteed to make you cry. Starring Dakota Fanning, Queen Latifah, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Hudson and Alicia Keys,
this female-led film tells the story of a young girl named Lilly
(played by Dakota) who escapes her abusive home with her
African-American housekeeper, Rosaleen (played by Jennifer), at the
height of the Civil Rights movement. The two find shelter in a bright
pink house owned by three African-American businesswomen who teach Lilly
and Rosaleen about love, forgiveness and the meaning of home.

"Ghostbusters"














Because women can do anything a man can do, audiences got the gift of a
"Ghostbusters" remake in 2016, this time featuring an all-female crew of
supernatural exterminators. Starring Leslie Jones, Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon, this sci-fi comedy was an exciting update of the 1984 original.

"Waiting to Exhale"














Sometimes, friendships are the only thing that women can count on in
their lives. In the 1995 romantic dramedy "Waiting to Exhale" (based on
the novel by Terry McMillan), Loretta Devine, Whitney Houston,
Angela Bassett and Lela Rochon star as four tight-knit friends dealing
with different relationship and career struggles but find love,
understanding and support in each other when everything else in their
lives seems to be going wrong.

"A League of Their Own"














In the 1992 dramatic comedy "A League of Their Own," Lori Petty and
Geena Davis star as sisters recruited to join the women's baseball
league during WWII. After successfully competing during tryouts, the
sisters wind up on the same team where they learn to deal with their
differences and work together (while overcoming gender discrimination
and sexist attitudes) to win the championship.

"Whip It"














Drew Barrymore, Ellen Page
and Kristen Wiig star in the 2009 female-led sport dramedy "Whip It,"
which tells the story of a teenage girl named Bliss (played by Ellen)
who finds herself and her inner passion when she links up with the local
ladies' roller derby team. Overcoming a strict, conservative upbringing
and a mother who would rather have her daughter in beauty pageants than
in the rink, Bliss learns the important lesson of standing for what she
believes in and how to rise up whenever she gets knocked down.

"Book Club"














Another newly released gal-powered movie on our list is the 2018 comedy
"Book Club." The film stars Diane Keaton, Candice Bergen, Jane Fonda and
Mary Steenburgen in a hilariously sordid tale of four mature female
friends who find inspiration for their dilapidated love lives after
reading "50 Shades of Grey" as their monthly book club selection.

"Crossroads"














In the 2002 romantic coming-of-age drama "Crossroads," Britney Spears, Taryn Manning and Zoe Saldana
star as three best friends who set out on a road trip to Los Angeles
after graduating from high school. While on their journey west, the
girls, who'd drifted apart over the last few years, learn about each
other and the hardships they'd experienced and ultimately find a renewed
love and sense of purpose in their own lives and in their bonds with
each other.

"Precious"














In the haunting 2009 drama "Precious," Gabourey Sidibe stars as the
title character -- a teenage girl growing up in the Harlem projects who
struggles with physical, sexual and emotional abuse at the hands of her
parents. Based on the novel "Push" by Sapphire, the film is a dark and
troubling look into Precious's life as she fights to escape the trauma
of her past with the help of a few positive, encouraging women, like her
teacher Mrs. Rain, played by Paula Patton (seen here), and her social
worker Ms. Weiss, played by Mariah Carey.

"The Women"














The reason the 1939 comedy "The Women" is on our list isn't because the
storyline is so great. The film, which began as a traveling show and
later moved to the big screen, was often marketed as "The Women -- and
it's all about men!" It gave us more of a comical glimpse at how cattily
women were portrayed during the Golden Age of cinema. The movie,
starring Norma Shearer, Joan Fontaine, Rosalind Russell, Paulette
Goddard, Mary Boland and Joan Crawford (not pictured), was about gossip,
the impossible standards for women (that were often perpetuated by
other women) and one wife's discovery that her husband was having an
affair. The film is guaranteed to make audiences laugh almost as much as
they cringe. It also inspired an even more terrible remake in 2008
starring Meg Ryan and Eva Mendes, but given that it was made nearly 70 years after the original, we can't forgive the sexist and patronizing storyline.

"Now and Then"














Last on our list is the 1995 nostalgia-inducing coming-of-age dramedy
"Now and Then" starring Ashleigh Aston Moore, Gabby Hoffman, Christina
Ricci and Thora Birch as childhood friends who had the best summer of
their lives in 1970. Also appearing in the film are Melanie Griffith, Demi Moore,
Rosie O'Donnell and Rita Wilson, who star as the girls as adults
reflecting back on the magical summer they shared so many years ago that
bonded them together for the rest of their lives.

21 Countries Kate Has Visited Since Joining the Royal Family
William and Kate have been on a Scandinavian mini tour since January 30, but which other countries has the duchess visited since she married into the royal family seven years ago? From the urban-chic galleries, museums, and landmarks of major cities to scuba-diving exams, cocktail bars, and romantic desert island cabins, Kate has done them all - and more! Let's take a look at each of her royal overseas visits.
The Seychelles
William and Kate first vacationed in the Indian Ocean archipelago in 2008, and loved it so much they returned for their honeymoon in May 2011 - just ten days after Kate had become an HRH. The newlyweds stayed on the exclusive North Island, which has its own private chef, and spent some of their time snorkeling.
Four days after returning, Kate wore a matching cowrie shell necklace and earrings for an official meeting with Barack and Michelle Obama that were reported to have been brought back from a Seychellois boutique.
Canada
William and Kate embarked on their first royal tour just two months after their wedding, visiting Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Prince Edward Island, Yellowknife, and Calgary. Kate's tour wardrobe was bursting with diplomatic gestures, including a diamond maple leaf brooch on loan from the queen, a red maple leaf hat that she wore on Canada Day, two dresses by Canadian designer Erdem and a jacket by Canadian brand Smythe. The duchess also wore a pair of turquoise earrings by local designer Corrie McLeod.
During their second tour of Canada in 2016, William and Kate spent a packed week visiting Victoria, Vancouver, the Great Bear Rainforest, Kelowna, Whitehorse, Carcross, and Haida Gwaii. Kate brought the diamond maple leaf brooch back out, wore three red outfits in tribute to the Canada's national color, as well as a cardigan by Canadian brand Sentaler - a firm favorite with Meghan Markle, too. Kate also wore a pair of earrings by local designer Shelley MacDonald after they were given to her as a gift.
The US
Kate has been to the US twice so far. First up was a three day trip to Los Angeles and Santa Barbara with William in 2011, when she attended a military jobs fair, an inner city arts project, and a BAFTA event where she rubbed shoulders with Jennifer Lopez, Tom Hanks, and Nicole Kidman. Kate paid her respects by wearing a wrap dress by US designer Diane von Furstenberg to the couple's welcome reception.
In 2014, Kate and William flew to New York where they visited the 9/11 memorial, spent time at youth projects, and took in a Brooklyn Nets game where they met Beyoncé and Jay Z. During the two-day trip, Kate - who was pregnant with Princess Charlotte - wore a coat by US designer Tory Burch, and the couple checked into the Carlyle Hotel, which was where William's mother Princess Diana always stayed when she was in town.
Denmark
Kate and William paid a flying visit to Denmark in the year they married to visit a UNICEF warehouse in Copenhagen
. In November 2011, the duke and duchess met up with Danish royals Frederik, Crown Prince of Denmark and his wife Mary, Crown Princess of Denmark, to take a look at the way UNICEF was offering aid to countries in eastern Africa.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines
Kate's family have been visiting the Caribbean island of Mustique in St. Vincent and the Grenadines for over a decade, usually heading over to celebrate mom Carole Middleton's Jan. 31 birthday. Kate has joined them three times since she married - the first two trips were both with William, but the third time was just with a 6-month-old Prince George, as William was home studying.
Kate and William have stayed at three properties on the island: Villa Hibiscus, Villa Aurora, and Villa Rocina, and they have an active social and sporting presence while they're there. They play tennis, and have both spent time scuba diving – Kate even became a PADI-certified advanced diver in 2015. The duke and duchess's favorite social spots include Basil's Bar (owner Basil even got an invite to the royal wedding), the Cotton House, and the Firefly Hotel, where Kate has been seen drinking a piña colada.
Singapore
William and Kate headed off on a nine-day, four-country tour on behalf of the queen in her Diamond Jubilee year, and the first port of call was three days in Singapore. The couple visited Gardens by the Bay, where they planted a tree, spent time at a school for children with special needs, and stayed at the Raffles Hotel, while Kate wore a dress by Singaporean designer Raoul.
Malaysia
The second stop of William and Kate's 2012 tour was a jam-packed three days in Malaysia, where the couple visited a hospice, spent time in the jungles of Borneo, and attended a Diamond Jubilee tea party. For an evening reception, Kate wore a white and gold gown embroidered with Malaysia's national flower, the hibiscus.
The Solomon Islands
As part of their Southeast Asia tour on behalf of the queen, William and Kate spent two days in the Solomon Islands, where they attended cultural events, went to a church service, and paid visits to local charities. The couple also had a night alone on the tiny island of Tavanipupu.
Tuvalu
William and Kate finished up their Diamond Jubilee tour on behalf of the queen in the tiny archipelago nation of Tuvalu, where they visited schools and danced in grass skirts at a dinner hosted by the governor-general. The country is affected by coastal erosion caused by climate change, and in 2017, Kate received the Tuvalu Order of Merit in recognition of the helpful attention her visit brought.
Switzerland
In March 2014, William and Kate attended the wedding of one of William's oldest friends in the Swiss ski resort of Arosa. Although Kate was in her second trimester with Prince George and couldn't ski with her husband, she was spotted sledding with friends.
The Maldives
Just before William, Kate, and Prince George headed off for a tour of New Zealand and Australia in 2015, William and Kate booked in for some alone-time in the remote Indian Ocean archipelago. Neither had been to the Maldives before, and they chose the Cheval Blanc Randheli Hotel for a week of sun, sea, and sand.
New Zealand
For their first tour with Prince George, William and Kate headed off on an epic trip to New Zealand and Australia, spending ten days in their first port of call, where they visited Wellington, Blenheim, Auckland, Hamilton, Dunedin, Queenstown, and Christchurch.
Kate wore two outfits by New Zealand designers on the tour - a turquoise dress by Emilia Wickstead and blue tweed skirt suit by Rebecca Taylor. The duchess also paid close attention to the country's national symbol, the fern, and national color of black. She borrowed a diamond fern brooch from the queen, wore a fern-bedecked Jane Taylor hat for church, and chose a black dress embroidered with a crystal fern for an evening event.
Australia
In 2014, William and Kate followed their ten days in New Zealand with ten days in Australia, taking in Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Brisbane, Ularu, Adelaide, and Canberra. Kate wore the national color of yellow for her arrival to the country, and a hat by Australian designer Jonathan Howard on the day she left. Meanwhile, the bilby enclosure at Taronga Zoo was named after Prince George.
Belgium
Kate has twice visited Belgium for First World War centenaries - Liege in 2014 and Ypres in 2017.
India
In 2016, William and Kate undertook a five-day whirlwind tour of India that included Mumbai, New Delhi, Kaziranga National Park, and Agra. Kate took the opportunity to showcase several Indian designers when she wore dresses by Anita Dongre and Naeem Khan, and earrings by Amrapali.
Bhutan
As well as spending five days in India during March 2016, William and Kate also spent two days in neighboring Bhutan. During the trip, Kate wore a dress featuring the national flower, the poppy, and a skirt made of traditional Bhutanese material. The duchess also bought herself a $7 pair of earrings that she wore just a few days later when she visited the Taj Mahal, and left Bhutan wearing a necklace which had been a present from Queen Jetsun Pema.
The Netherlands
Kate's first solo overseas trip was supposed to have been to Malta in 2014, but William ended up going in her place as she was suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum during the early stages of her pregnancy with Princess Charlotte.
Instead, Kate's first solo trip was to the Netherlands in 2016, where she attended a round-table discussion with mental health charities, and visited the Mauritshuis museum. At the museum Kate came face to face with one of its most famous paintings Girl With a Pearl Earring by Vermeer - with Kate herself wearing a pair of pearl earrings on loan from the queen.
France
William and Kate's trip to Paris in 2017 wasn't their first time in France as a married couple, but it was certainly their most iconic. During their two-day visit, the couple visited the big tourist sites, met with survivors of the Bataclan terrorist attacks, and watched a rugby match. Kate paid tribute to the host country by wearing Chanel for the first time, accessorizing with Cartier.
It looks like France is one of Kate and William's favorite places to vacation, as they have visited the country privately on at least five occasions since they got married. In 2012 the couple went skiing with Kate's family in Méribel, and enjoyed a pre-tour long weekend later in the year at the chateau of Princess Margaret's son Viscount Linley in Provence. The couple also took Prince George and Princess Charlotte on their first skiing holiday to Courcheval in 2016, and later in the year returned to France for a Summer vacation in Biarritz.
Then in 2017, while Prince William was showing off his dance moves in the nearby Swiss resort of Verbier, Kate returned to Méribel with a small group of women for her sister Pippa's bachelorette party.
Luxembourg
Kate's second solo trip overseas took her to Luxembourg for the day in 2017. The duchess met with school children, and took a tour of the the Grand Duke Jean Museum of Modern Art (aka Mudam).
Poland
In 2017, William and Kate took Prince George and Princess Charlotte on their five day tour of Poland and Germany. The trip included visits to the former concentration camp Stutthof, the European Solidarity Centre, and a traditional Polish street party. Kate paid her respects by wearing a dress by Polish designer Gosia Baczynska, a set of amber jewelry that she was gifted during the visit, and by carrying a clutch by Polish company Etui.
Germany
Following their two day trip to Poland in 2017, Kate, William, George and Charlotte then continued to Germany for three days. Here the duke and duchess had a private meeting with chancellor Angela Merkel, visited the Holocaust Memorial, met with young people who had been supported by a local mental health charity, and raced against each other on the River Neckar. After the race, the couple posed for pictures with picturesque Heidelberg in the background, which is twinned with Cambridge in the UK.

New England Patriots fans are known for their passionate, emphatic team spirit - and celebrities are not immune to this fervor. From well-known Bostonians like Chris Evans and Matt Damon to more low-key fans like Elizabeth Banks, the Patriots' influence stretches far and wide.
In light of the team gunning for its sixth Super Bowl ring on Sunday, INSIDER rounded up the most notable celebrities who will be cheering for Tom Brady and Co. from the sidelines.
1. Lea Michelle
Despite being a native New Yorker, Michele has been known to don a Brady jersey
"I'm a New Yorker, but I've always been a Patriots fan," Michele told People. "Tom Brady's an incredible athlete. He will go down probably in my generation as one of the greatest athletes that I'll get to see."
The "Glee" actress even called last year's Super Bowl the "best day ever" on Twitter.

The super model is the ultimate Patriots super-fan - and wife to the team's superstar quarterback.
Bündchen and Brady are the definition of a power couple. Not only are they legends in their respective careers - with a combined net worth of $540 million - they are in love. And the supermodel loves to show her husband affection by rooting for his team.

4. Chris Evans
The "Captain America" star says he loves the quarterback more than the team itself.
"I love the Patriots, I love any sports entity. But Tom is a special man," Evans said on Jimmy Kimmel Live, though he admitted that his affection does not end with the quarterback. The actor has even invited Patriots players to his movie premieres.
Evans garnered a lot of attention for his relatable reaction at the end of last year's Super Bowl, which was luckily caught on camera.

Damon is extremely vocal about his support for his hometown teams, especially the Patriots.
"Boston fans, we're a little crazy, and we take this stuff very seriously," Damon admitted on The Rich Eisen Show.
The "Jason Bourne" actor even lent his voice to the NFL's video recap of last year's Super Bowl.
"Sometimes, a game is not just a game. It's a gathering, a shared moment that unites us and resonates for the rest of our lives," Damon narrates.

6. Ben Affleck
Nothing screams "Patriots fan" like an undying love for the team's not-so-secret weapon. Affleck has called Brady "the greatest quarterback who ever walked the Earth" and "the greatest man in all of humanity" in a satirical Jimmy Kimmel Live sketch.
"Just say the name Tom Brady, he'll crack into a big smile - anytime," Affleck's best friend Damon told E! News.
Affleck is a Boston sports nut, who has interrupted interviews and stopped on red carpets to watch his favorite teams compete.

7. John Krasinski
Krasinski is proud of his "pigheaded Boston way" when rooting for the Patriots.
"It's fun to be from a place that has so much tradition and legendary sort of sports stories to tell my daughter one day very soon," Krasinski said during an appearance on ESPN's "His & Hers."
When reminded that many football fans don't like the Patriots fanbase, Krasinski playfully responded, "yeah, we have this way of winning that's super annoying."

8. Aly Raisman
Raisman is so dedicated to her team that she felt the need to personally apologize to Brady when taking a posting a photo with another team's quarterback, Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers.

11. Conan O'Brien
O'Brien grew up in Boston and attended Harvard University, so it makes sense that he roots for his hometown teams. And as a lifelong fan, O'Brien naturally looks down upon so-called "bandwagoners."
The comedian satirized bandwagon supporters of the Patriots' success in 2015, back when they only had four Super Bowl rings to speak of.
"If we don't get the fifth ring, I'm gone," he joked. "I'm not gonna stick around for that nonsense."
Last year, before the Patriots won that storied fifth ring, O'Brien poked fun at himself - as well as Patriots coach Bill Belichick - while playing video games with Brady during a late-night talk show segment.
"We have a lot in common," he told Brady. "We're both icons in Massachusetts."

A Supermodel Is Born
She was born Christie Lee Hudson on Groundhog Day, 1954, Brinkley is of German, Irish, English and Scottish descent.

She Had Early Exposure to Hollywood
After her parents' divorce, Christie and brother Donald were adopted by her mother Marjorie's second husband, television writer Don Brinkley. Later a producer, he wrote more than 400 teleplays for classic TV series ranging from "Rawhide" to "The Man From U.N.C.L.E."

She Went to a Bilingual High School
Brinkley attended Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles. Fellow Lycée Français alumni include Jodie Foster, Claire Danes, Molly Ringwald, Tatum O'Neal and Shannon Doherty.

She Wasn't Really an "Uptown Girl"
"I was basically a surfer girl from California," said Brinkley, who spent some of her formative years in Malibu. "I never looked like a model."

She Didn't See Herself as Model Material
After graduation in 1973, Brinkley (seen here years years later, making faces with Brooke Shields) moved to Paris to study art, with the dream of becoming an illustrator. At 19, she was discovered in a French post office by a photographer, who introduced her to an agent with Elite Model Management. "Modeling was never in my plan," Brinkley recalled. "Never."

She Broke a Model Industry Record
In 1976, Brinkley signed to become the "face" of CoverGirl, beginning a 20-year contract with the cosmetics firm, the longest in the history of the model industry. In 2005, CoverGirl again signed Brinkley, using her in ads for skin products aimed at women over 40.

Sports Illustrated Made Her a Household Name
Also in 1976, Brinkley (seen here in a Vogue fashion feature) was hired as a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model. She proved so popular that SI put her on the cover of its annual swimsuit edition for three consecutive years, 1979-81. Brinkley returned to SI's swimsuit issue again in 2017, at age 63.

She's Truly a Supermodel
Brinkley has been featured on the cover of more than 500 magazines, including Vogue, Glamour, Harper's Bazaar and Cosmopolitan. She has reportedly amassed a fortune upwards of $80 million, which makes her one of the top-earning female models of all time.

She's Been Married Four Times
Her first husband was French artist Jean-Francois Allaux. They tied the knot in 1973 and divorced in 1981 without children. "We had a great marriage," said Brinkley. "We were just young."

She and Billy Joel Made Music Together
Brinkley met her second husband, Billy Joel, on the Caribbean island of St. Barts in 1983. He was having fun on the hotel piano, and she started singing along. "We literally never stopped singing the whole time we were together," said Brinkley. The couple were married in 1985 on a yacht on the Hudson River, taking their vows in a private ceremony attended by 175 friends and family members. They were divorced in 1994. Brinkley and Joel have a daughter, Alexa Ray Joel.

She Made Her Big-Screen Debut in "National Lampoon's Vacation"
Brinkley played the fetching "girl in the red Ferrari" opposite Chevy Chase. She was supposed to strip naked for the movie's skinny-dipping scene, but refused, instead wearing a nylon bodysuit. Brinkley went on to other movie and TV acting roles, recently appearing as a recurring character on "Parks and Recreation."

She's a Doll
In 1989, Matchbox Toys created a Christie Brinkley doll as part of its Real Model Collection, which also included dolls based on fellow supermodels Beverly Johnson and Cheryl Tiegs, seen with Brinkley here.

She Had a Very Close Call
In 1994, Brinkley and five others were in a potentially catastrophic helicopter crash while heli-skiing in Telluride, Colorado. Though all the copter's passengers survived without life-threatening injury, Brinkley recalled the accident as a moment of severe terror during which she thought: "I am going to die. Right now? Like this? A ski trip? Today?"

Then Came Marriage No. 3
Eight months after helicopter crash, Brinkley married fellow wreck survivor Ricky Taubman. in Telluride, near the site of the accident. Brinkley, then 40, announced at their wedding that they were expecting a baby boy. The marriage ended a year later with one child, Jack Paris Taubman.

And Then Marriage No. 4
In 1996, Brinkley married Peter Halsey Cook. The couple had one child together, Sailor Brinkley Cook, before they divorced in 2008. The divorce proceedings attracted media attention after Cook admitted that he had an extramarital relationship with an 18-year-old woman and that he was addicted to internet pornography.

She's Politically Engaged
A long-time supporter of liberal causes, Brinkley served as a delegate at the 2000 Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles, where she give the Pledge of Allegiance along with children representing the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

She Was in a Serious Skiing Accident
In 2006, Brinkley (seen here with daughter Alexa Ray Joel and son Jack Taubman) almost severed her spine in a skiing accident. "I could have lost my leg," she said. "The doctor told me unless I did the surgery immediately I would only have a 30 percent chance of the leg recovering."

She Hit Broadway
In 2011, Brinkley made her Broadway debut in the musical "Chicago"—and received a standing ovation. She later reprised her role as Roxie in the show's London production.

She's a Picky Eater
Brinkley is a strict vegetarian and a "flexible vegan," though she admits to indulging herself occasionally with a special treat. "I love a good chocolate chip ice cream," she has said. "I'm not going to go for some lousy version of it. If I'm going to have it I'm going to have a really good one."

She's Candid and Upbeat About Aging
Brinkley cheerfully admits to having had cosmetic treatments. "I'm almost 64," she said recently. "At a certain point, you might need a little something extra. When I look into the mirror, I want to look as good as I feel. And if you can have something done to feel more confident and better about yourself, then you feel like your face matches your spirit."
