Country singer Loretta Lynn hospitalized after suffering
stroke

Country music singer Loretta Lynn was hospitalized after a
suffering a stroke at her home in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, her official
website said Friday.

Lynn, 85, was admitted to a Nashville hospital on Thursday
where she is "under medical care and is responsive and expected to make a
full recovery," a statement on LorettaLynn.com said.

The singer's upcoming shows have been postponed on advice of
her doctors while she recovers, the statement added.

Lynn was scheduled to perform at the Carolina Theatre in
Durham, North Carolina on Friday, and had performances lined up across the
United States through November.

Born in Kentucky, Lynn carved a career in the country music
scene with her down-home twangy voice, singing hits such as 1960's "I'm a
Honky Tonk Girl" and "Coal Miner's Daughter," released in 1970.

Met Gala 2017: Everything you need to know about
fashion's biggest night

The Met Gala is more than just the fashion world's version
of the Academy Awards. The annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of
Art's Costume Institute brings together the biggest names in entertainment,
fashion and politics for one night of revelry.

Take the world's biggest celebrities, dress them in couture
and stick them in a room together, and sparks are bound to fly. President Trump
proposed to Melania during the event in 2004, and Taylor Swift and Tom
Hiddleston's romance was borne of their Met Gala dance-off in 2016.
Historically, guests are also supposed to dress in the fashions of the event's
honored designer, a tradition that often turns controversial.

Before the stars descend on the Metropolitan Museum of Art in
NYC on Monday night, learn more about the annual event.

What is the Met Gala?

The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit
informally called the Met Gala or the Met Ball, is a black-tie fundraiser for
the museum's Costume Institute. The event also celebrates the opening of the
Costume Institute's annual fashion exhibit.

The Costume Institute is housed in the museum's Anna Wintour
Costume Center, named after the Vogue editor-in-chief. Wintour has served as
the Met Gala co-chair nearly every year since 1995.

This year's theme

Opening this month, the Costume Institute's new exhibit
honors the work of Comme des Garçons designer Rei Kawakubo. The Costume
Institute's choice of honoree often sets the tone for the Met Gala, with
attendees expected to match the exhibit's theme with their own fashion choices
for the evening.

This year, party-goers are encouraged to honor the bold,
architectural designs of Kawakubo, who is the first living designer to be
honored by the Costume Institute since Yves Saint Laurent in 1983.

The exhibition, which runs from May 4 to September 4, will
feature 100+ of Kawakubo’s Comme des Garçons womenswear designs, dating back to
her first Paris runway show in 1981.

The celebrity hosts

Every year since Anna Wintour's first year as Met Gala chair
in 1995, the event has also featured honorary hosts from the worlds of
entertainment and fashion.

Along with Wintour, this year's co-chairs are Katy Perry,
Pharrell Williams, Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen, with Kawakubo also serving as
honorary chair.

Ahead of the gala, Perry also appeared on the May cover of
Vogue, honoring Kawakubo in a dedicated Comme des Garçons spread.

The star-studded guest list

Only Hollywood's biggest award shows boast guest lists that
rival that of the invitation-only Met Gala. Wintour has final say over every
attendee, and celebrities from A-list entertainers to political heavyweights
mingle together at the event.

While 2016's Manus x Machina gala hosted stars including
Beyoncé and Jay Z, Taylor Swift, Kanye West and the entire Kardashian clan, a
spokesperson for the museum told The New York Times that the guest list for
this year's event is expected to be slightly smaller.

Who is Rei Kawakubo?

Kawakubo, a 74-year-old Japanese designer who founded Comme
des Garçons in 1969, is only the second living designer honored by the Costume
Institute, along with Saint Laurent.

“Rei Kawakubo is one of the most important and influential
designers of the past 40 years,” said Costume Institute curator in charge
Andrew Bolton in a press release. “By inviting us to rethink fashion as a site
of constant creation, recreation, and hybridity, she has defined the aesthetics
of our time.”

If pictures tell the story, then this one is certainly going
to make producers smile. Thursday night, there were lines of patrons outside
the Mantri Mall in Bengaluru trying to catch the 10 pm show of one of the most
awaited films of the year- Bahubali 2: The Conclusion.

And it is no ordinary show. It's a paid preview where each
ticket costs double what they would shell out once the film releases on Friday.
It seems though, that double the price is certainly no dampener.

The Bahubali mania has clearly gripped not just the city but
can be felt across different cities, whether it's Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad or
Chennai.

In the national capital, ticket prices are as high as Rs
2400 per ticket, but the seats are filling up fast. There were 3 km long lines
outside a cinema hall in Hyderabad on Wednesday, with many who returned
disappointed after not getting a ticket.

In Andhra Pradesh, the govt has permitted extra shows. With
as many as 6500 screens, it's going to see one of the biggest openings for an
Indian film globally, with some shows starting as early as 5:30 am.

For all the publicity generated around the film, there is
the obvious curiosity over why Katappa killed Bahubali. The well-kept secret
will finally be revealed after a two-year long wait.

Bahubali: The Beginning made over Rs 600 crore in collections
and even before the release of part 2, many are already asking if the combined
collections will cross the 1000 crore mark. If these lines are any indication,
that target does not seem too distant to touch.

5 - Hedy Lamarr — IQ: Through the
Roof

The star of Cecile B. DeMille's
1949 blockbuster "Samson and Delilah" was promoted as "the
world's most beautiful woman" during MGM's Golden Age. She was also
brilliant. Born in Vienna, Hedy Lamarr invented (with composer George Antheil)
a "frequency hopping" system originally aimed at preventing Nazis
from jamming radio-controlled torpedoes during World War II. Her invention was
a key to the development of today's cordless phone technology.

6 - Conan O'Brien — IQ: 160

This shouldn't come as a shock.
After all, Conan is a Harvard grad, accomplished comedy writer and all-around
nerdy-looking dude. His IQ is reportedly 160, which is the same as Stephen
Hawking's. But it must be noted that the famous physicist never made millions
off of a m-------ting bear character. So who's the real genius now, Mr.

7 - Geena Davis — IQ: 140

We all know what happens when
you say "Beetlejuice" three times, but apparently saying

story. With a reported IQ of 160, Reggie Jackson may be the smartest athlete

For many years Sharon Stone
maintained that, thanks to her genius-level IQ, she belonged to Mensa. Then, in

David Duchovny is one of the brightest actors of the last few decades. But

A high school dropout, Quentin
