12 celebrities who are rooting for the Patriots to win Super Bowl 2018

New England Patriots fans are known for their passionate, emphatic team spirit - and celebrities are not immune to this fervor. From well-known Bostonians like Chris Evans and Matt Damon to more low-key fans like Elizabeth Banks, the Patriots' influence stretches far and wide.

In light of the team gunning for its sixth Super Bowl ring on Sunday, INSIDER rounded up the most notable celebrities who will be cheering for Tom Brady and Co. from the sidelines.

1. Lea Michelle

Despite being a native New Yorker, Michele has been known to don a Brady jersey

"I'm a New Yorker, but I've always been a Patriots fan," Michele told People. "Tom Brady's an incredible athlete. He will go down probably in my generation as one of the greatest athletes that I'll get to see."

The "Glee" actress even called last year's Super Bowl the "best day ever" on Twitter.

2. Justin Timberlake

Timberlake was quick to congratulate Brady on his comeback last year.

3. Gisele Bündchen

The super model is the ultimate Patriots super-fan - and wife to the team's superstar quarterback.

Bündchen and Brady are the definition of a power couple. Not only are they legends in their respective careers - with a combined net worth of $540 million - they are in love. And the supermodel loves to show her husband affection by rooting for his team.

4. Chris Evans

The "Captain America" star says he loves the quarterback more than the team itself.

"I love the Patriots, I love any sports entity. But Tom is a special man," Evans said on Jimmy Kimmel Live, though he admitted that his affection does not end with the quarterback. The actor has even invited Patriots players to his movie premieres.

Evans garnered a lot of attention for his relatable reaction at the end of last year's Super Bowl, which was luckily caught on camera.

"The most emotional game I've ever been a part of. I don't care what sport you're into, it's the best game you've ever seen," Evans told Kimmel. "That video means so much to me."

5. Matt Damon

Damon is extremely vocal about his support for his hometown teams, especially the Patriots.

"Boston fans, we're a little crazy, and we take this stuff very seriously," Damon admitted on The Rich Eisen Show.

The "Jason Bourne" actor even lent his voice to the NFL's video recap of last year's Super Bowl.

"Sometimes, a game is not just a game. It's a gathering, a shared moment that unites us and resonates for the rest of our lives," Damon narrates.

6. Ben Affleck

Nothing screams "Patriots fan" like an undying love for the team's not-so-secret weapon. Affleck has called Brady "the greatest quarterback who ever walked the Earth" and "the greatest man in all of humanity" in a satirical Jimmy Kimmel Live sketch.

"Just say the name Tom Brady, he'll crack into a big smile - anytime," Affleck's best friend Damon told E! News.

Affleck is a Boston sports nut, who has interrupted interviews and stopped on red carpets to watch his favorite teams compete.

7. John Krasinski

Krasinski is proud of his "pigheaded Boston way" when rooting for the Patriots.

"It's fun to be from a place that has so much tradition and legendary sort of sports stories to tell my daughter one day very soon," Krasinski said during an appearance on ESPN's "His & Hers."

When reminded that many football fans don't like the Patriots fanbase, Krasinski playfully responded, "yeah, we have this way of winning that's super annoying."

8. Aly Raisman

Raisman is so dedicated to her team that she felt the need to personally apologize to Brady when taking a posting a photo with another team's quarterback, Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers.

Wahlberg loves Brady so much that he convinced him to make a cameo in "Ted 2." In the film, his character tries to steal Brady's sperm in his sleep to create the perfect baby. Sure, it's a little weird, but this is just one example of Patriots fans' intensity.

11. Conan O'Brien

O'Brien grew up in Boston and attended Harvard University, so it makes sense that he roots for his hometown teams. And as a lifelong fan, O'Brien naturally looks down upon so-called "bandwagoners."

The comedian satirized bandwagon supporters of the Patriots' success in 2015, back when they only had four Super Bowl rings to speak of.

"If we don't get the fifth ring, I'm gone," he joked. "I'm not gonna stick around for that nonsense."

Last year, before the Patriots won that storied fifth ring, O'Brien poked fun at himself - as well as Patriots coach Bill Belichick - while playing video games with Brady during a late-night talk show segment.

"We have a lot in common," he told Brady. "We're both icons in Massachusetts."

12. Steven Tyler

The Aerosmith frontman frequently graces Foxborough, Massachusetts with his singing voice, always making a point to flaunt his Patriots pride.

She was born Christie Lee Hudson on Groundhog Day, 1954, Brinkley is of German, Irish, English and Scottish descent.

She Had Early Exposure to Hollywood

After her parents' divorce, Christie and brother Donald were adopted by her mother Marjorie's second husband, television writer Don Brinkley. Later a producer, he wrote more than 400 teleplays for classic TV series ranging from "Rawhide" to "The Man From U.N.C.L.E."

She Went to a Bilingual High School

Brinkley attended Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles. Fellow Lycée Français alumni include Jodie Foster, Claire Danes, Molly Ringwald, Tatum O'Neal and Shannon Doherty.

She Wasn't Really an "Uptown Girl"

"I was basically a surfer girl from California," said Brinkley, who spent some of her formative years in Malibu. "I never looked like a model."

She Didn't See Herself as Model Material

After graduation in 1973, Brinkley (seen here years years later, making faces with Brooke Shields) moved to Paris to study art, with the dream of becoming an illustrator. At 19, she was discovered in a French post office by a photographer, who introduced her to an agent with Elite Model Management. "Modeling was never in my plan," Brinkley recalled. "Never."

She Broke a Model Industry Record

In 1976, Brinkley signed to become the "face" of CoverGirl, beginning a 20-year contract with the cosmetics firm, the longest in the history of the model industry. In 2005, CoverGirl again signed Brinkley, using her in ads for skin products aimed at women over 40.

Sports Illustrated Made Her a Household Name

Also in 1976, Brinkley (seen here in a Vogue fashion feature) was hired as a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model. She proved so popular that SI put her on the cover of its annual swimsuit edition for three consecutive years, 1979-81. Brinkley returned to SI's swimsuit issue again in 2017, at age 63.

She's Truly a Supermodel

Brinkley has been featured on the cover of more than 500 magazines, including Vogue, Glamour, Harper's Bazaar and Cosmopolitan. She has reportedly amassed a fortune upwards of $80 million, which makes her one of the top-earning female models of all time.

She's Been Married Four Times

Her first husband was French artist Jean-Francois Allaux. They tied the knot in 1973 and divorced in 1981 without children. "We had a great marriage," said Brinkley. "We were just young."

She and Billy Joel Made Music Together

Brinkley met her second husband, Billy Joel, on the Caribbean island of St. Barts in 1983. He was having fun on the hotel piano, and she started singing along. "We literally never stopped singing the whole time we were together," said Brinkley. The couple were married in 1985 on a yacht on the Hudson River, taking their vows in a private ceremony attended by 175 friends and family members. They were divorced in 1994. Brinkley and Joel have a daughter, Alexa Ray Joel.

She Made Her Big-Screen Debut in "National Lampoon's Vacation"

Brinkley played the fetching "girl in the red Ferrari" opposite Chevy Chase. She was supposed to strip naked for the movie's skinny-dipping scene, but refused, instead wearing a nylon bodysuit. Brinkley went on to other movie and TV acting roles, recently appearing as a recurring character on "Parks and Recreation."

She's a Doll

In 1989, Matchbox Toys created a Christie Brinkley doll as part of its Real Model Collection, which also included dolls based on fellow supermodels Beverly Johnson and Cheryl Tiegs, seen with Brinkley here.

She Had a Very Close Call

In 1994, Brinkley and five others were in a potentially catastrophic helicopter crash while heli-skiing in Telluride, Colorado. Though all the copter's passengers survived without life-threatening injury, Brinkley recalled the accident as a moment of severe terror during which she thought: "I am going to die. Right now? Like this? A ski trip? Today?"

Then Came Marriage No. 3

Eight months after helicopter crash, Brinkley married fellow wreck survivor Ricky Taubman. in Telluride, near the site of the accident. Brinkley, then 40, announced at their wedding that they were expecting a baby boy. The marriage ended a year later with one child, Jack Paris Taubman.

And Then Marriage No. 4

In 1996, Brinkley married Peter Halsey Cook. The couple had one child together, Sailor Brinkley Cook, before they divorced in 2008. The divorce proceedings attracted media attention after Cook admitted that he had an extramarital relationship with an 18-year-old woman and that he was addicted to internet pornography.

She's Politically Engaged

A long-time supporter of liberal causes, Brinkley served as a delegate at the 2000 Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles, where she give the Pledge of Allegiance along with children representing the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

She Was in a Serious Skiing Accident

In 2006, Brinkley (seen here with daughter Alexa Ray Joel and son Jack Taubman) almost severed her spine in a skiing accident. "I could have lost my leg," she said. "The doctor told me unless I did the surgery immediately I would only have a 30 percent chance of the leg recovering."

She Hit Broadway

In 2011, Brinkley made her Broadway debut in the musical "Chicago"—and received a standing ovation. She later reprised her role as Roxie in the show's London production.

She's a Picky Eater

Brinkley is a strict vegetarian and a "flexible vegan," though she admits to indulging herself occasionally with a special treat. "I love a good chocolate chip ice cream," she has said. "I'm not going to go for some lousy version of it. If I'm going to have it I'm going to have a really good one."

She's Candid and Upbeat About Aging

Brinkley cheerfully admits to having had cosmetic treatments. "I'm almost 64," she said recently. "At a certain point, you might need a little something extra. When I look into the mirror, I want to look as good as I feel. And if you can have something done to feel more confident and better about yourself, then you feel like your face matches your spirit."

The Grammys are supposed to celebrate excellence in music.
But the Recording Academy misses the mark so frequently that they're almost a
joke among music fans.

As one old "Simpsons" line shows, the Grammys aren't
considered to be as prestigious as an Oscar or a Tony. There are currently 80
categories, which dilutes the value of the awards. And they've made so many
slip-ups that they're not easy to take seriously.

But still, the Grammys hold a rarefied place in music -
Chance the Rapper said he wanted to "snatch the Grammy" in a guest
rap on Kanye West's "Ultralight Beam" (and then did) - so it's a shame they get it so wrong so
frequently.

Here are the 20 most undeserving winners in Grammy history.

Ed Sheeran didn't even show up to pick up his Grammys.

Ed Sheeran won two Grammys at the 2018 ceremony, the least
deserving of which was in the pop solo performance category. "Shape of
You" is a catchy but anemic pop song. It has nothing on
"Praying" by Kesha, who did show up and gave a devastating performance of her song.

A 20-year-old Eric Clapton song won instead of "Smells
Like Teen Spirit."

"Layla" is a great song. There's no denying that.
But it just doesn't make sense that Clapton's acoustic cover of his own song,
20 years later, beat Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit," the
defining song of a decade, in the 1993 best rock song category.

Kings of Leon should have never won over Beyoncé or Lady
Gaga.

Little more than an anemic one-hit wonder band, Kings of
Leon had a remarkable stretch of Grammy success in the lat 2000s - but the
victories for "Use Somebody" went too far.

At the 2010 Grammys, the band won the best record award for
"Use Somebody," over Beyoncé's "Halo," Lady Gaga's
"Poker Face," "I Gotta Feeling" by Black Eyed Peas, and
"You Belong With Me" by Taylor Swift. Fortunately, they lost the Song
of the Year Award to "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on it)" by Beyoncé.

A cover album won Album of the Year over an Amy Winehouse
classic.

It's sweet that Herbie Hancock made a great album of songs
covering his friend Joni Mitchell and that luminaries like Leonard Cohen, Tina
Turner, and Norah Jones pitched in for the project, titled "River: The
Joni Letters." But shouldn't the "Album of the Year" award go to,
you know, something new? The category in 2008 had "Back to Black"
from Amy Winehouse and "Graduation" by Kanye West.

2018's best new artist winner makes little sense.

At the 2018 Grammys, SZA was the most-nominated female
artist. She wasn't expected to win all of them, but surely the best new artist
category would be a lock.

It wasn't. She lost to Alessia Cara. And while Cara is talented - she
was featured on Logic's song "1-800-273-8255" and had her own single
"Here" - SZA had one of the most criticaly acclaimed albums of 2017,
with "Ctrl," and helped move R&B in a more relaxed yet addictive
direction.

A parody of John F. Kennedy won the album of the year award
in 1962.

Back in the early days of the Grammys, the Academy was more
tolerant of non-music recordings winning major awards. That still doesn't
excuse Vaughn Meader's anemic "My
First Family" album, where he impersonated President John F. Kennedy,
winning the album of the year award. "I Left My Heart in San
Francisco" by Tony Bennett, also nominated that year, would have been a
better pick.

Toto swept the 1983 Grammys instead of... pretty much
anything else.

The band won record of the year for "Rosanna" and
album of the year for "Toto IV," which is just strange.
"Rosanna" isn't a bad song, necessarily, but it's vastly inferior to
their own "Africa" from the same year, as well as "Every Breath You Take" by the Police,
"Sweet Dreams" by The Eurythmics, and "Beat It" by Michael
Jackson. Any of their songs and albums would have been better picks.

Steely Dan had no business winning album of the year when
Radiohead came out with "Kid A."

In 2000, Radiohead released an album that changed the course
of rock music. Steely Dan made a mediocre comeback after 20 years. The Grammys
just made the wrong pick here.

Milli Vanilli undeservedly won 1990's best new artist award
— and then lost it anyway.

The irritating R&B group won over Indigo Girls for some
reason. Hilariously, the academy stripped them of their award months later upon learning
they didn't actually do the vocals on their first album.

The Grammys missed the mark again for 1969's song of the
year.

Bobby Russell's song "Little Green Apples" is a
sweet, now-obscure little track. It's nice, but not deserving of the award. The
academy should have given it to "Hey Jude" by The Beatles or
"Mrs. Robinson" by Simon & Garfunkel instead.

For one of the best-ever years for music, a completely
forgettable song won.

The best contemporary song category for the eighth Grammy
Awards for 1966 was an embarrassment of riches. Simon & Garfunkel
released the album "Sounds of Silence," The Animals introduced
"We Gotta Get Out of this Place," The Rolling Stones launched
"Paint It, Black," the Beatles released "Revolver," Matt
Monro came out with "Born Free," the Beach Boys had "Good
Vibrations," "California Dreamin'" by The Mamas & the Papas,
and The Monkees had "I'm a Believer."

Which song won the Grammy? None of the above. The award
instead went to a song called "Winchester Cathedral" by The New
Vaudeville Band, a song so bland it runs out of ideas after the first three
notes.

Some guys who weren't The Clash won 1977's award for best
new artist.

With apologies to the Starland Vocal Band, the one-hit
wonder behind "Afternoon Delight," The Clash is actually the
best band that debuted its first album in 1977.

A Frank Sinatra retrospective beat one of the Beatles's most
pivotal records.

In 1967, Frank Sinatra won the album of the year Grammy for
his two-disc retrospective, "A Man and His Music."

It's kind of silly. While Sinatra is an all-time great, he
won the award a year earlier, for "September of My Years," so it
doesn't make sense to give it to him again for a greatest hits compilation. The
Beatles should have won instead for "Revolver."

Christopher Cross won instead of some of the greatest
artists of all time.

You know Christopher Cross? That artist played on the radio
when DJs give up at the end of the day and just want to go home? His
self-titled album won the album of the year Grammy in 1981 instead of the other
nominees: "Glass Houses" by Billy Joel, "The Wall" by Pink
Floyd, "Trilogy: Past Present Future" by Frank Sinatra, and
"Guilty" by Barbra Streisand.

2013 will always be the year Frank Ocean was robbed.

It's true that "Babel" by Mumford & Sons was
everywhere, but it didn't deserve to beat Frank Ocean's "Channel
Orange," one of the best albums of this century so far.

In 1979, a one-hit wonder, once again, won instead of music
titans.

A Taste of Honey broke multiple records with their single
"Boogie Oogie Oogie," which is still fun decades later as a disco
classic. But it was silly to give them the Grammy for best new artist. Toto and
Elvis Costello were both nominated in the category that year.

2014 wasn't a great year for music, but Beck still didn't
deserve the award.

Beck's 2015 best album win for "Morning Phase" was
more like a career capstone than a recognition for that particular album.
"Run the Jewels 2" by Run the Jewels, which wasn't nominated,
definitely has more lasting power, and the award itself could have also gone to
Beyoncé's self-titled album or "G I R L" by Pharrell Williams, which
were both nominated.

Creed's win for "With Arms Wide Open" is just
insulting.

The repetitive, much-despised band won the best rock song
award in 2001 for "With Arms Wide Open." It's a shame -
"Californication" by Red Hot Chili Peppers was another nominee that
year and would have been a deserving winner.

Giving two Grammys to "Thrift Shop" was a step too
far.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis's goofy song
"Thrift Shop" was ubiquitous in 2013, but that doesn't mean it
deserved to win awards. Especially gobsmacking is that it won awards for both
best rap song and best rap performance instead of tracks like "Swimming
Pools" by Kendrick Lamar, "Started from the Bottom" by Drake,
"Holy Grail" by Jay-Z, and "New Slaves" by Kanye West.

A non-metal band won the first award for the best metal
performance.

1989 was the inaugural year for the Grammy awarding the best
hard rock or metal performance.

Bafflingly, the band that won was neither. Jethro Tull,
known for its trademark use of a flute, won the award instead of Metallica
which, at the height of their talent and coming off the death of one of their
band members, was expected to win.

1989 was also the last year for the award. Afterwards, the
Grammys gave separate awards for rock and metal.

Empty-handed

It's that time -- music's biggest night! For the first time
in 15 years, the Grammys have returned to the Big Apple. From fashion
statements and jaw-dropping performances to must-hear speeches, trending topics
and, of course, all the antics and laughs that came courtesy of host James
Corden, here are the highlights from the 60th Annual Grammy Awards at Madison
Square Garden in New York City on Jan. 28, 2018, starting with... Wow. JAY-Z started the night as the music star with more
nominations than any other artist going into the 60th Annual Grammy Awards --
and ended the night shut out of all eight categories in which he'd received
nods. All the the rap categories in which Jay was nominated were taken by
Kendrick Lamar, while Bruno Mars beat Jay for song of the year and album of the
year. But as consolation, at least he had wife Beyonce and their 6-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, by
his side during the ceremony to soften the blow. Keep reading for more on what
had everyone buzzing at the 2018 Grammys...

Unexpected opening

How was that for an opening?! Talk about a mesh of talent!
(albeit a somewhat expected combination of it!) The Grammys opened with
Kendrick Lamar, Bono and The Edge from U2... and comedian Dave Chappelle. The
show kicked off with Kendrick rapping while being surrounded by dancers in
military garb. Then the performance segued into Bono and The Edge... then back
to Kendrick. The music then stopped. Enter Dave, who suddenly said, "Hi,
I'm Dave Chappelle and I just wanted to remind the audience that the only thing
more frightening than watching an honest black man in America is being an
honest black man in America." Then Kendrick continued the performance
before Dave came back on -- and the music stopped. "Is this on
cable?" Dave mused. Then Kendrick went back to rapping. Strange way to
open the show, but nonetheless, we're off and running...

Engagement ring?

Lady Gaga took her newest bauble out for a spin at the
Grammys. Since November, there have been rumors that Gaga is an engaged lady.
She's never confirmed that she's betrothed to her boyfriend of about a year,
agent Christian Carino, but from the looks of that ring, maybe she doesn't have
to. Gaga didn't shy away from showing off the enormous pink diamond sparkler
she's had for a few months now. The pink center stone is surrounded by smaller
white diamonds all set on a gold band. And yes, it's being worn on that
ever-so-telling finger.

Disrespect & drama

Oh Lorde, did the drama start early... in fact, it started
before the Grammys even began. Lorde was MIA on the red carpet at the Grammys on Jan. 28 because she
reportedly felt disrespected. Lorde -- who's the only woman up for album of the
year -- won't be performing either. According to TMZ, the Kiwi star -- who
attended the ceremony with her little brother, Angelo Yelich-O'Connor -- told
the Grammys "thanks, but no thanks" after she was asked to perform as
part of the Tom Petty tribute but was denied when she wanted to sing a song
from her nominated album, the report said. TMZ also claimed that the four other
album of the year nominees were invited to perform solo and that all except JAY-Z accepted the Recording Academy's offer. Lorde and the
Grammys reportedly played a game of chicken and she didn't blink. To steal a
line from Tom Petty, she didn't back down.

Best consolation prize ever

You get a puppy! You get a puppy! You get a puppy! In one of
the cuter moments in awards show history, James Corden joked that those who
didn't win a Grammy would be going home with a "consolation puppy."
The camera then panned to comedian Jerry Seinfeld, who was handed the cutest
four-legged friend ever. James jokingly warned Jerry that the pooch was a
"bit of a biter." Comedian Jim Gaffigan was holding a puppy too, and
James said his dog wasn't potty trained. Think the dogs didn't make an impact?
Anna Kendrick tweeted, "One of consolation puppies just got walked past me
so the night is pretty much downhill from here. #GRAMMYs."

Who's that kid?

Childish Gambino put on a fantastic performance at the
Grammys (or, shall we say, a "Terrified" performance). The rapper
(aka Emmy-winning actor Donald Glover) -- who will play an adult Simba in
Disney's upcoming live-action "Lion King" film -- sang his track
"Terrified" but was upstaged by a 10-year-old boy. JD McCrary, who's
set to play Young Simba in the movie, joined the rapper on stage during his
performance and was hitting some serious notes. Well done, young man, well
done.

Support & solidarity

The women have spoken! Before Kesha's moving and powerful
performance of "Praying," she was introduced by Janelle Monae. The
actress-singer didn't hold back, saying, "We come in peace, but we mean
business... I am proud to stand in solidarity... with my fellow sisters in this
room who make up the music industry. To those who would dare try and silence
us, we offer you two words: Time's up," she said. "We say time's up
for pay inequality, discrimination or harassment of any kind and time's up for
abuse of power. It's not just going on in Hollywood... it's right here in our
industry." She later added, "Just as we have the power to shape
culture, we also have the power to undo the culture that does not serve
us." After Janelle stirred the crowd, Kesha was joined by Cyndi Lauper,
Bebe Rexha, Camila Cabello, Julia Michaels, Andra Day and more on stage. The
women essentially sang backup for Kesha. It was an absolute show of solidarity
in the midst of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements. In case you forgot, "Praying"
was written following Kesha's devastating legal battle with producer Dr. Luke,
whom she's accused of abuse and sexual misconduct (which he's long denied).
After the performance, Kesha was seen tearing up. Audience members, many of
whom were clearly emotional, gave her a standing ovation.

Moving tribute

The most emotional tribute of the night started with audio
difficulties that thankfully were fixed just as the Brothers Osborne, Eric Church and Maren Morris launched into a beautiful,
bittersweet rendition of "Tears in Heaven" to honor the victims of
two music tragedies -- the May terrorist bombing of England's Manchester Arena
in England after Ariana Grande's concert, and the October mass shooting in Las
Vegas during the Route 91 Harvest festival featuring country music's best --
that killed more than 80 music fans. "The healing power of music will
always provide," Eric somberly told viewers

Political support for a rival

We know who Kendrick Lamar is voting for in 2020! While
accepting his award for best rap album, the rapper gave the usual thanks
(record label, fans, etc.). But at the end of his speech, he said, "Jay
for president." The shout-out came after JAY-Z (whom he's competing against in multiple categories
-- and beating!) and President Donald Trump got into it. In an interview with
CNN's "The Van Jones Show," Jay called Trump "the
superbug." Trump, not one to take an insult, especially lately, then
tweeted, "Somebody please inform JAY-Z that because of my policies, Black
Unemployment has just been reported to be at the LOWEST RATE EVER
RECORDED!"

The best pre-taped bits

"Subway Carpool Karaoke" just doesn't have the
same cachet as regular old Carpool Karaoke. In a comedy bit midway through the
show, host James Corden joined Sting and Shaggy to do his popular late-night
show segment, Carpool Karaoke, with a New York City twist -- they did it on the
subway. The bit was funny, but staged. The trio started singing Sting and
Shaggy's hits on a subway car but kept getting shut down by fellow passengers.
James even got "punched" by one man. The whole thing was set up and
the upset "passengers" were obviously actors. We just wish it had
worked! A later pre-taped bit, however, went over much, much better. James had
several music stars read excerpts of Michael Wolff's "Fire &
Fury" -- the best-selling, unflattering book about President Trump -- in a
spoof effort to see who might win the gig and, presumably, a spoken word Grammy
next year. Along with John Legend, Cher, Snoop Dogg, Cardi B and others, none
other than Hillary Clinton read an excerpt -- drawing laughs and applause for
the playful bit.

In Memoriam

Tom Petty passed away on Oct. 2, and the Grammys made sure
he was remembered. Chris Stapleton and Emmylou Harris played a somber acoustic
version of Tom's song "Wildflowers" to honor his legacy. "You
belong with your love on your arm / You belong somewhere you feel free,"
they sang. The tribute gracefully segued into the In Memoriam segment of the
show. Those we lost this past year included several musical heavyweights like
Chuck Berry, David Cassidy, Glen Campbell, Dolores O'Riordan, Chris Cornell and
Chester Bennington, among others.

Eloquent message

Awards and celebrations are great and all, but perhaps the
most important moment of the show came from Logic, who performed his hit song
"1-800-273-8255," which is the phone number for the National Suicide
Prevention Lifeline. During the anti-suicide anthem, he was joined by Alessia
Cara and Khalid. He was also joined by suicide attempt and loss survivors. The
men and women donned shirts with either the phone number or the words "You
are not alone." Toward the end of the song, he went rogue: "Black is
beautiful. Hate is ugly. Women are as precious as they are stronger than any
other man than I have met. And to them, I say stand tall and crush all
predators under the weight of your heart that is full of the love they will
never take away from you. Be not scared to use your voice, especially in
instances like these when you have the opportunity. Stand and fight for those
who are not weak but have yet to discover the strength that the evil of this
world has done its best to conceal. To all the beautiful countries filled with
culture and diversity and thousands of years of history you are not sh--hole
countries. And lastly on the behalf of those who fight for equality in a world
that is not equal, not just and not ready for the change we are here to bring I
say up to you bring us your tired, your poor and any immigrant that seeks
refuge for together we can build not just a better country but a word that is
destined to be united."

Understated

When Pink takes the stage, it's usually must-see TV because
of her over-the-top performances. This time, though, it was just the opposite.
While belting out "Wild Hearts Can't be Broken," the singer donned a
simple white off-the-shoulder shirt and jeans. A similarly dressed woman stood
near her signing the song's lyrics in sign language. It was pretty. It was understated.
It was perfect. It was just very un-Pink, considering her typical aerial
performances.

Ubiquitous

Dave Chappelle was certainly one of the biggest stars of the
night, perhaps unexpectedly. He opened the Grammys, presented an award (and
gave a shout-out to A Tribe Called Quest, acknowledging their Grammys snub) and
was on the mind of other comedians. Jim Gaffigan even said he was excited to
lose an award to Dave. Jim was right. Dave then won best comedy album (for
"The Age of Spin" and "Deep in the Heart of Texas"). During
his speech, he thanked everyone from Netflix to his wife and her sisters and
even their kids. "I am honored to win an award, finally," he said.
With seemingly nothing left to say, he added, "See you on Monday."

Bleep backfired

The CBS censors were paying close attention during Bruno Mars and Cardi B's performance of "Finesse"
-- but their vigilance might have backfired. Viewers at home heard a pause
during the spirited performance -- a pause meant to occur during a raunchy
lyric. But The Wrap reports that the censors started the pause too early and
that it sounded like they lifted it before the offending lyric -- the word
"sh--" ("Blame it on your measurements / Shut that sh-- down on
sight / That's right") was sung. Oops! But the censors weren't done yet --
they also got bleep-happy during SZA's performance later in the show.

This year's best new artist is...

SZA might have been the most nominated female artist at the
2018 Grammy Awards with five nods, but she did not take home the coveted best
new artist award (or any others for that matter, drawing Twitter's ire) -- that
honor went to Alessia Cara. The stunned 21-year-old Canadian singer -- you know
her from her hit song "Scars to Your Beautiful" as well as her
featured vocals on Logic's anti-suicide anthem "1-800-273-8255" --
admitted she was nervous as she took the stage inside Madison Square garden to
accept the prize. "I've been, like, pretending-winning Grammys since I was
kid, like in my shower," she said on stage, "so you'd think I'd have,
like, the speech thing down, but I absolutely don't." But she quickly
found her groove as she urged viewers to "support real music and real
artists because everyone deserves the same shot. That goes for everyone. Not
just those in the music industry." She also beat out Julia Michaels,
Khalid and Lil Uzi Vert for the best new artist Grammy.

Posthumous win

Princess Leia is still the princess of the Grammys. Carrie
Fisher passed away more than a year ago, but she took home a
posthumous Grammy Award for best spoken word album award for her book "The
Princess Diarist." Her daughter, Billie Lourd, took to social media to
recognize the moment. "Princess Diarist was the last profesh(ish) thing my
momby and I got to do together," she captioned a throwback image of her and her mom on a red carpet together long ago.
"I wish she was here to carry me down the red carpet in some bizarre
floral ensemble but instead we'll celebrate in true Carrie style: in bed in
front of the TV over cold Coca Colas and warm e cigs. I'm beyond proud."

Colorful night

While many of the women donned black, white or metallic
looks on the 2018 Grammys red carpet, several men went in a different direction
with colorful suits and jackets. DJ Khaled and his adorable son, Asahd, wore
matching red velvet tuxedos. Sam Smith donned a double-breasted green suit atop a
fine-knit red, navy and gray sweater. Elton John sparkled in a jacket embellished with blue, red
and gold sequins. And Ne-Yo looked both luxe and playful in a velvet mustard
yellow jacket.

Fashion statement

It was a white-out at the 60th Annual Grammys. While black
was the color of the night at the Golden Globes, white was the way the Grammys
went. Many stars chose to wear white roses to honor the #MeToo and Time's Up
movements, which strive to end sexual harassment and misconduct in the
workplace and in everyday culture. The idea was formed by a group called Voices
in Entertainment. In a statement, the group said, "We choose the white
rose because historically it stands for hope, peace, sympathy and
resistance." Kelly Clarkson, who carried a white rose down the red carpet,
told Ryan Seacrest that she embraced the meaning behind the bloom. "I
thought those were very lovely things for every human to encompass and to also
share with others... I thought it was a really, really cool thing." And
she wasn't the only one: Clearly, many music artists -- including Lady Gaga, seen here -- were more than happy to stop and
smell the white roses on Grammy night.

Family strong

Less than a year after his death, Chris Cornell's presence
was felt at the Grammys thanks to his family. Chris' widow, Vicky Cornell, and
their daughter Toni, 13, as well as Chris's daughter Lily, 17 (left), from his
first marriage, donned black and attended the ceremony together. They haven't
walked a red carpet together since the Soundgarden frontman's tragic suicide in
May 2017.

Awkward!

(In your best Chandler Bing voice) Could Lil Uzi Vert BE any
less impressed on the Grammys red carpet? The rapper, up for best new artist,
spoke to E!'s Giuliana Rancic during the pre-show and wasn't into it... at all.
She asked if he was excited about the nomination. He said, "Uh, this is
normal. This is my life, so it's whatever." She awkwardly continued to try
to pull some enthusiasm out of him. But nope. He didn't win the best new artist
award later on, but he had post-win plans in case he did. "If I win, I'm
just going to think about everything I'm going to buy the next day," he
told Giuliana. "You know I like to shop. So, shopping. Gucci just dropped
a new collab with Burberry, and it's very nice. I got to get everything."
His big plans tomorrow? "Wake up and eat Pop Tarts." #Goals

Reunion news

Sorry, you Jonas Brothers fans, but a reunion isn't
happening... at least for now. Recent rumors have hinted that former Disney
darlings the Jonas Brothers were gearing up for a reunion, sending millennials
into a tailspin. While speaking to Ryan Seacrest on E!'s Grammys red carpet
pre-show, Nick Jonas poured water on the idea that he's reconnecting
with brothers Kevin Jonas and Joe Jonas professionally... kind of. The rumor
was started after the family spent a weekend together. "There is no
reunion planned," Nick said, "but never say never."

First to take a swipe

Sarah Silverman was the first to get political at the
Grammys... Well, kind of. Before introducing Luis Fonsi and his red-hot
performance of "Despacito" with Daddy Yankee, Sarah took the stage
and told the audience that she and fellow presenter Victor Cruz were there to
encourage people to vote. Victor told her that was not at all why they were
there. The comedian, a frequent critic of President Trump, said, "Do what
you want to do. The world is basically over anyway." Tell us how you
really feel, Sarah! (Which we're sure you will!)
