If you've been playing Pokémon Go since the game first launched, chances are you already have all the ghost-type Pokémon that are spawning at increased rates during Pokémon Go's Halloweenevent... but you probably aren't rolling in Pokémon candy. 

And that's why you should actually care about Halloween in Pokémon Go, no matter how long you've been playing the game.

In a blog post announcing the Halloween update, Pokémon Go developer Niantic explains
that, during the event, you'll earn double the amount of candy every time you catch a Pokémon, trade a Pokémon back to Professor Willow or hatch a Pokémon from an egg.

Getting two candies instead of one every time you trade a Pokémon is cool, but that probably only amounts to a trickle of fresh candy. Getting six candies instead of three every time you catch a Pokémon is rad, but you're probably catching common Pokémon — most of which you don't really need a lot of candy for.

What really matters here are the double candy amounts for hatching Pokémon eggs. If you're having trouble finding rare Pokémon in the wild near you, eggs are the next best source for the rarest and most sought-after Pokémon — unless, of course, the recent nest
migration parked a rare Pokémon nest right on top of your home.

If you want to take over gyms in Pokémon Go,
you need plenty of candy to train your Pokémon

Candy and stardust are the two resources you need to power up your Pokémon and increase their Combat Power, or evolve lesser Pokémon into more powerful ones. Stardust, which is earned when you catch any type of Pokémon, is easier to come by — whereas candy is specific to the types of Pokémon you've caught, traded or hatched.

Perhaps you've noticed that the CP of Pokémon in gyms is getting higher every week? Just having a strong Pokémon like a Charizard orVaporeon means nothing if its CP is too low. It's not uncommon to see a rare Pokémon with CP of 2,500 or higher sitting atop a gym; it takes a lot of candy to level a Pokemon up that high.

Pete Burns, Dead or Alive Singer, Dead at 57

Eccentric, androgynous singer sang Eighties hits "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)," "Brand New Lover"

Pete Burns, lead singer of the Eighties goth new wave band Dead or Alive and their smash "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)," died Sunday after suffering cardiac arrest, his management said Monday. Burns was 57.

"It is with the greatest sadness that we have to break the tragic news that out beloved Pete Burns of (Dead Or Alive), died suddenly yesterday of a massive cardiac arrest," Burns' Facebook alerted fans.

"All of his family and friends are devastated by the loss of our special star," the message read. "He was a true visionary, a beautiful talented soul, and he will be missed by all who loved and appreciated everything he was and all of the wonderful memories the has left is with."

Boy George, who weathered comparisons both musically and stylistically to urns, tweeted of
the Dead or Alive singer, "Tearful about the passing of @PeteBurnsICON he was one of our great true eccentrics and such a big part of my life! Wow. Hard to believe!"

The androgynous Burns, who began cross-dressing as a six-year-old, emerged in the late Seventies as a member of the goth band Nightmares in Wax, which released their lone EP Birth of a Nation, highlighted by the single "Black Leather," in 1979 before adopting the name Dead or Alive.

After a string of singles, including "The Stranger,"


Dead or Alive released their debut album Sophisticated Boom Boom in 1984, with the band transforming KC and the Sunshine Band's "That's the Way (I Like It)" into an unlikely hit.

"The trouble is that people are all too ready to jump to conclusions about anybody who they think looks a bit strange. They think you must be mentally subnormal," Burns once said of his unique appearance in aninterview. "Over the years I've had to learn how to deal with eople who refuse to take me seriously. That's where I learnt the blunt side of my character."

The following year, Youthquake arrived accompanied by the group's biggest hit "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)." The single reached Number One on the U.K charts and peaked at Number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2006, the song returned to the British charts – at Number Five – following Burns' infamous appearance on CelebrityBig Brother.

Three years later, Flo Rida and Kesha's take on the song, dubbed "Right Round," topped the Billboard 200 and shatteredthen-digital sales records.

The singer also recorded notable Dead or Alive hits with "Brand New Lover" and Something in the House."

Following the Eighties, however, Burns became more known for his reality TV appearances and ever-changing look – Burns underwent countless cosmetic surgeries over the past ecades, with heavy physicalconsequences– than his music.

"People redecorate their homes every few years and I see this as no different. Changing my face is like buying a new sofa," Burns toldthe Daily Mail after another string of surgeries left him virtually unrecognizable.

As Dead or Alive's only constant member, Burns continued to tour under the group's oniker until his death.

New Google Doodle Celebrates Antoni van
Leeuwenhoek, Inventor of Microbiology

The doodle represents the "little


animals" Leeuwenhoek discovered that later became known as bacteria

Monday marks the 384th birthday of Antoni van Leeuwenhoek, credited with being the first microbiologist.

While he might not be a household name today, the Dutch textile salesman ground and polished his own lenses, and was the first human to discover the existence of bacteria, single celled creatures, and spermatozoa.

Working from his dwellings above a marketplace in the Dutch city of Delft, his home-made lenses were so finely constructed that some of the organisms he discovered were not seen again for another century.

Doodle designer Gerben Steenks says, “I chose to make it an animated Doodle to show the ‘before and after’ experience that Antoni van Leeuwenhoek had — looking through a microscope and seeing a surprising new world.”

Van Leeuwenhoek wrote in a letter to the Royal Society of London that he had seen “little animals” in lake water he had collected for his first microscopic experiment. “He saw a whole world in a drop of water,” writes Google.

Kyle Schwarber rejoining Cubs for World Series a
real possibility

 In the Cubs'
season of historical significance, Kyle Schwarber is on the verge of
reaching a significant medical milestone.

Schwarber, 23, was cleared to play Saturday night for the
Mesa Solar Sox of the Arizona Fall League — six months after undergoing surgery
to repair two ligament tears on his left knee. It's now possible he could join
the Cubs if they reach the World Series for the first time since 1945.

"We're not ruling anything in," President Theo Epstein said. "We're not
ruling anything out. We're not getting ahead of ourselves here. We have a lot
of work to do before he becomes pertinent on a short-term basis. But it's a
testament to how hard Kyle has worked to be in this position to how it's a
possibility. It's a credit to him and all the members of our staff who have
worked with him."

Schwarber, who hit 16 home runs in 69 games for the Cubs
during the regular season and five during the 2015 playoffs, will handle the
designated-hitter duties for Mesa — a job he could perform at Cleveland if he's
cleared to play and the Cubs advance to the Series.

Schwarber will wear a brace on his knee and won't play in
the field. He has been told to run the bases conservatively.

"It's awesome," manager Joe Maddon said. "I
didn't see it coming."

Neither did anyone but Schwarber, who wasn't expected to be
cleared fully until the start of spring training after
suffering the injury April 7. But Schwarber showed remarkable improvement in
agility drills over the last 1 1/2 months after progressing from range of
motion and strengthening work.

Schwarber received clearance Monday to hit and run after a
six-month post-operation examination from Dr. Daniel Cooper, who performed the
surgery. Epstein was informed of the updates before Schwarber flew to Los
Angeles, where he hit Monday and Tuesday in the batting cage before flying to
Mesa on Wednesday for a recovery day and tracked pitches off a machine.

Schwarber took batting practice on the field for the first
time on Thursday and tracked about 400 to 500 fastball and breaking pitches off
a machine.

Schwarber looked impressive Friday in eight at-bats off
Double-A Tennessee pitcher James Farris, and then got clearance from Cooper to
play in the AFL, Epstein said.

"Physically, he's on an accelerated time table,"
said Epstein, who said he didn't prod medical authorities to clear Schwarber.
"To a baseball standpoint, he's only got about a week or so to be ready,
but mentally he's been preparing for six months and has been advance scouting.

"He's been watching how pitchers attack hitters,
studying his own video, studying opposing video. Mentally he's been preparing
for a long time and been itching to contribute."

Kevin Sumlin and Texas A&M have celebrated a colossal win and endured a humiliating loss at Alabama's Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Now, they're back.

The sixth-ranked Aggies return Saturday to face No. 1 Alabama in a matchup of the Southeastern Conference's last unbeaten teams and a game that's every bit as important as any previous meeting.

It's even more intriguing with the Crimson Tide (7-0, 4-0) having edged closer to the Texas A&M style of speedy tempo and quarterback runs. The Aggies (6-0, 4-0) haven't abandoned that formula by any stretch but have taken over the role of the SEC's top running team that would seem more 'Bama's domain traditionally.

No wonder Tide coach Nick Saban said, "We're full of challenges for this week."

"This is one of those season-defining games for us," Saban said.

For both teams. It's the second time in four seasons that the SEC West showdown has featured No. 1 versus No. 6 and the third Top 10 matchup in that span. The budding rivalry has produced classics like the Johnny Manziel-led 2012 upset by the Aggies in Tuscaloosa and 'Bama's 49-42 win a year later. It's also supplied Alabama's biggest beatdown against a ranked team, a 59-0 win on the Aggies' last visit two seasons ago.

Such a one-sided outcome seems unlikely this time but Alabama is a whopping 18-point favorite coming off dominating performances against Tennessee and Arkansas.

Texas A&M quarterback Trevor Knight, who led Oklahoma to a Sugar Bowl win over Alabama as a redshirt freshman, said the Aggies have this game in its proper perspective.

"We're not over-emphasizing this week and that's not discrediting Alabama and what they've done," he said. "But this isn't the end all, be all. This is the seventh game of our season. We still have a bunch of games after that and we realize and respect the opponent that we're playing but we're not making it on a pedestal or anything like that."

Here are things to watch in Saturday's Texas A&M-Alabama game:

TOP 10 LIST: Alabama has grown accustomed to playing much-hyped games, going 23-6 against Top 10 teams since 2008. The Aggies have fared pretty well, too. They've won a school-record three road games against Top 10 teams under Sumlin, including that 29-24 win in 2012 that was the program's second win over a top-ranked team.

RUNNING QBS: Both defenses will have to be wary of quarterback runs. Tide freshman Jalen Hurts and Knight rank second on their respective teams in rushing, but nobody comes close in reaching the end zone on the ground. Knight has run for nine touchdowns and 502 yards, Hurts has produced 428 yards and eight TDs.

NON-OFFENSIVE TDS: Alabama's special teams and defense are on a roll when it comes to scoring, accounting for 11 touchdowns this season and at least one in nine straight games. It would be hard to top the last meeting with the Aggies, when the Tide scored on three interception returns . Sumlin cites a number of factors, luck not being among them.

"A lot of them are two-way players in high school and frustrated they only get to play defense," he said. "They are letting the world know about it."

PASS RUSHERS GALORE: The game features some of college football's premier quarterback chasers. Texas A&Mhas bookends Myles Garrett and Daeshon Hall and ranks third in the nation in tackles for loss (9.7 per game). Alabama counters with Jonathan Allen, Tim Williams and Ryan Anderson. All five players rank among the Top 86 in sacks.

"Their front is ridiculous, best way I can put it," Sumlin said. "As good as there is in football."

NFL has not ruled out putting Josh Brown on commissioner's
exempt list

The NFL said on Thursday it plans to review the new
information disclosed on Wednesday about the Josh Brown domestic violence case
and decide any “next steps” it might take.

The league is considering the possibility of placing Brown
on the commissioner’s exempt list (i.e. paid leave) while it considers
discipline, a person with knowledge of the situation told Tom Pelisero of USA
TODAY Sports, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of
the situation.

That was the mechanism the NFL used – with players’ consent
at the time, prior to the implementation of the league’s updated personal
conduct policy – to take Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson and
then-Carolina Panthers end Greg Hardy off the field amidst their legal troubles
during the 2014 season.

The current conduct policy says paid leave is an option for
anyone charged with a crime of violence or if an investigation “leads the
Commissioner to believe that you have violated this policy” by committing such
conduct.

On Thursday, the league released the following statement
from Brian McCarthy, VP of Communications:

“NFL investigators made repeated attempts—both orally and in
writing—to obtain any and all evidence and relevant information in this case
from the King County Sheriff’s Office. Each of those requests was denied and
the Sheriff’s Office declined to provide any of the requested information,
which ultimately limited our ability to fully investigate this matter. We
concluded our own investigation, more than a year after the initial incident,
based on the facts and evidence available to us at the time and after making
exhaustive attempts to obtain information in a timely fashion. It is unfortunate
that we did not have the benefit or knowledge of these materials at the time.

“In light of the release of these documents yesterday, we
will thoroughly review the additional information and determine next steps in
the context of the NFL Personal Conduct Policy. We will not be making any
comments on potential discipline until that time. “

Documents obtained by USA TODAY Sports show the NFL filed a
public record request with King County in May 2015.

Brown said he had "been physically, emotionally and
verbally" abusive, according to documents related to Brown’s domestic
violence case obtained by USA TODAY Sports and other media outlets on
Wednesday.

The confessions came from Brown’s journals and emails that
were given to Kings County (Wash.) Sheriff's Office investigators by his
then-wife, Molly Brown, after Brown was arrested in May 2015.

The  misdemeanor
domestic violence charge was dropped within days of his arrest in Woodinville,
Wash., after prosecutors reviewed the case. The NFL, which said it lacked the
cooperation of Molly Brown, suspended Josh Brown for the first game of the
season for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

Brown told reporters in August that the incident was a
single "moment in time," but the documents show that may not be the
case.

"I have been a horrible husband and stepfather,"
Brown wrote in one of his journal entries.

"I have abused my wife," read another entry with
the words underlined and circled.

Katie May had the online world at her feet. The 34-year-old
Playboy model was a queen of Snapchat and had more than 2 million followers on
Instagram.

But her life ended in February days after a visit with her
chiropractor.



Katie May's father, Joe May, spoke with Eyewitness News over the phone from
Pittsburgh on Wednesday. He said the Los Angeles County coroner attributed his
daughter's death to the actions of the chiropractor.



The coroner's office said the official cause of death was vertebral artery
dissection, which is essentially the manipulation of the neck. It tore an
artery leading to the brain.



The California Board of the Chiropractic Examiners said it doesn't comment on
whether or not it receives a complaint against one of its members.



Most of the time when a person suffers an injury like May's, it's due to a
pre-existing condition that makes a patient more vulnerable, according to
family medicine specialist Dr. Manuel Momjian.



"I don't think it should bring down the chiropractic industry, but it
should make us all step back and ask questions to our doctors," he said.



May's father said her death leaves her 7-year-old daughter motherless. He wants
to make sure something similar does not happen to anyone else.



"That's what we want. I would tell any guy or girl who goes to a doctor -
and I've told them - don't touch my neck."
